ABOUT
Claire Marieb is a New York-based theatre artist. Claire studied Theatre, Spanish, and History at Sarah Lawrence College in her undergrad. During that time, she directed Top Girls by Caryl Churchill as part of the Mainstage theatre season under the mentorship of Caden Manson and Robert Lyons. As well, she directed Dance Nation by Clare Barron under the mentorship of Graeme Gillis for the Downstage Theatre Company. Claire develops new works with young women and gender nonconforming playwrights as she has done with "The Box Office" by Claire Crowley at The Tank in NYC (2023), the solo show “Lemons” by Rebecca Gever at the 2019 United Solo Festival as well as with “Things I Never Told the Stars” by Isabella Waldron at Portland Actors Conservatory (2019). In 2022, Claire directed a workshop production of Annie Baker's translation of Uncle Vanya. Claire assistant directed "Superstitions" by Emily Zemba under director Jenna Worsham and "Trojan Women" adapted by Ellen McLaughlin under the direction of Ricardo Vazquez. In her own work, Claire shares candid stories about the complexities of navigating current global issues while struggling with personal illness. In 2021 Claire's play "Physical Touch is NOT my Love Language and ASMR is Inherently Sexual" premiered in collaboration with Our Digital Stories. Her comedic one-act musical, "Looking at the World Through Glass Eyes" received a staged reading during her time at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. She is currently developing a new play about climate change titled "Planting Day" in collaboration with director Lulu Guzman.
